What is an accessibility remediation sprint?
An accessibility remediation sprint is a time-boxed fix program, usually 30 days, that works through a store's audit findings in priority order: each issue repaired in the theme code, each repair verified by rescan, every step dated. It replaces the vague 'we are working on it' with a plan that has an owner, a sequence, and proof of completion.
How a sprint is structured
Week one belongs to the audit: every template scanned against WCAG 2.2 AA, every failure mapped to its theme file and component, ranked by severity and legal exposure. The remaining weeks work the list in batches, because Shopify failures repeat through shared components and one template fix often clears dozens of instances. High-risk purchase-path issues go first.
Why verification is the point
An attempted fix and a verified fix look identical in a project tracker and completely different in a dispute. Every repaired issue gets a rescan that confirms the criterion now passes, and the verification is timestamped into the evidence file. The sprint ends with a conformance status per criterion, not a claim of effort.
